TITLE: Director of Administrative Services (109412)

DEPARTMENT: Fire Protection Engineering

CATEGORY: Exempt Staff, 12 months, full-time

DUTIES:  The Director of Administrative Services reports directly to the Chair and manages all aspects of the business and personnel support functions for the Department, including, but not limited to:  financial reporting; developing budgets and making fiscal projections; grant management both pre and post-award; direct oversight of human resource and personnel issues, payroll and purchasing; administrative facilities and space management; supervision of administrative staff, liaison with campus administrative offices and departmental representative on committees.  The Director also serves in an advisory capacity to the Chair and Faculty regarding University, State and Federal policies and procedures as they apply to the business functions of the department.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor’s degree required (master’s degree preferred) with at least four years of experience in finance and/or personnel administration, preferably in a research or academic environment. Master’s degree can be substituted for two years of the experience.  Demonstrated problem solving abilities and excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.  Experience developing budgets and creating financial management reports, experience with sponsored research proposals and a demonstrated ability to interpret and apply government regulations to sponsored research is desirable.  Experience with all aspects of the hiring and appointment process in an academic setting is desirable.

SALARY:  Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
