"Energy & Civilization"
They are intimately related. What happens when fossil fuels are depleted? We need a large supply of a relatively inexhaustible source of energy. The only "light at the end of the tunnel" is fusion energy. Come hear the recently retired systems engineering manager of the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory, Robert Simmons, discuss world-wide efforts in this discipline.
The Annapolis Chapter of the Maryland Society of Professional Engineers meets on the second Wednesday of each month from September through June. A guest presenter is invited for each meeting, which is held locally. The topic of discussion typically is an item that has technical, financial and social interest. The final meeting of this year, 13 June 2012, will consist of a presentation by Mr. Robert Simmons, a recently retired representative from the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) where he was Manager of Systems Engineering. He is a graduate of the Naval Academy and a retired Naval Captain. Mr. Simmons will discuss the status of fusion research at the PPPL and other facilities.
This event is free and open to the public.
