Overview of FPE Undergraduate Advising
Every Fire Protection Engineering student has the same undergraduate advisor. Dr. Marshall is serving as the academic advisor for the 2007-2008 academic year due to Dr. Milke’s sabbatical leave. You are required to meet each semester with your advisor before being allowed to register for your next semester's classes.
The goal of the FPE Undergraduate Advising Program is to help realize a number of important outcomes not only for you but for all fire protection engineering majors.
- An obvious goal is to facilitate your early and full integration into the intellectual life of the Department. This will not only enhance your overall academic experience but also greatly increase your chances of successfully completing the program.
- The advising program also provides you with additional resources for developing a comprehensive educational plan sensitive to your particular circumstances and responsive to your evolving needs and changing interests.
- The advising program will help connect you with the wider UMCP network of people and resources that can help you with specific issues such as study abroad, cooperative educational opportunities, research, internships, professional development, scholarships, legal matters, personal issues, etc.
